Perhaps I'm being cynical but I can't help feeling that now would be the perfect time to pass laws reducing citizens' rights without anybody looking at them too hard. It's difficult to put 'airy-fairy' civil liberties arguments up against dead bodies, and people's fear that next time it could be them. I'm pretty resigned to the idea that this will happen, but I'm still going to write to my MP when it comes round, urging caution and careful scrutiny of the bill(s).
