Heh heh, it looks like someone finally persuaded Tony Blair to see sense. Although I don't like the idea of tutition fees at all, I'd much rather see deferred payment rather than up front fees. Although fees look set to rise, deferred payment until a graduate's income rises to over about £12,000 is much better than paying it up front. The return of the maintenance grant for the poorest students is something that I also welcome.
It's always gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside when governments are forced to make embarrasing u-turns like this, especially in cases where the original proposals were patently absurd in the first place.

Happy new year to all and sundry. Sorry to make the first post of the new year a negative one, but this story from Slugger O'Toole is ridiculous! I may not be religious in any way shape or form myself, but to deny someone the right to worship is totally immoral and wrong (not to mention illegal under Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights which has been incorporated into British law).
The arrogance, bigotry and narrow-mindedness of these people really does astound me.
