I’ve been pondering joining Twitter for some time now and now that I think that I’m starting to get an idea of what the heck it’s actually for, I’m finally taking the plunge. Some git had already taken @lordofthemoon, so you can find me @1ordofthemoon. Go ahead and follow me, and let me know if there’s someone that you think I should follow. I may get bored of the whole thing and just give up, but I’m going to give it a shot anyway.
Also, does anyone use a particular desktop application for Twitter, or do you all use it exclusively from your smartphones?
I’m very fond of Tweetdeck.
Ta, I’ll give that a shot.
From Sam on the LJ feed:
I’ve yet to find a desktop Twitter app that doesn’t make me want to swallow razor blades, so I just use it through the web. Using Google Chrome, I can ‘pin’ tabs to my tab bar, an example of which can be seen here: http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/lifehacker/2009/10/chrome-pin-tab-2.png.
This works if you live out of your browser the way I do, as it allows me to keep a simple web tab open rather than a full fledged application, and I can just flick between it, Facebook, Gmail and whatever real-time distraction I stick there.
I’ve started to use Tweetdeck on the desktop, although it could certainly do with a lot of polish and I use the official client on my iPod Touch.
